The “Light of Unity” festival, organized by the Bahá’í Community of Washtenaw County, will begin at 7pm on Friday, October 20th, with a welcome reception and hors d’oeuvres followed by a program — In Service to Humanity — held at the Morris Lawrence Building/Towsley Auditorium. The Friday program, beginning at 8pm, will outline the core principles of religious, racial, cultural, and gender “oneness” essential to humanity’s collective well being, as well as feature a presentation of special awards to Washtenaw County individuals and organizations who serve these goals. The program will also include special performances by nationally and internationally renowned artists: Victor Ghannam (Arabic Ud), XiaoDong Wei (Chinese Erhu), and Athena Johnson (Gospel/R&B &Jazz). Admission is free and open to all.
